San Diego Fishing Report: Tough Day, Big Yellowtail

Tough Day on the Water but One Angler Shines

Last Sunday, we took six anglers out on a full-day open party from Seaforth Marina. Conditions looked promising at the start, and we were hopeful for a great day on the water.

The morning started with a bang when Matt S landed an incredible yellowtail, measuring almost 45 inches and weighing in at a hefty 42 pounds! It was a true highlight of the day and a testament to Matt’s skill as an angler.

Unfortunately, the rest of the day proved to be more challenging. We encountered plenty of marine life, including swordfish, whales, porpoises, and even a few marlin sightings, but the yellowtail and mahi-mahi seemed elusive.

To salvage the trip, we decided to try our luck at calico bass and barracuda fishing in La Jolla. We had a great group of guys on board, and while the fishing wasn’t ideal, their positive attitude made the day enjoyable.

We understand that fishing conditions have been tough lately for many anglers in the area. We look forward to better fishing days ahead and hope to see our returning guests again soon!
